The million-dollar question: am I too young to start using anti-aging products? This might be a common question when we start our skincare journey, besides acne products, the anti-aging ones are next on our way.
Long story short. If you’re in your 20’s the answer is YES!
Although it’s an answer with many aspects. In your twenties, it’s all about preventing more than fighting. Some anti-aging products are often made for mature skin, which can be self-defeating at a young age.
As skin ages, oil production typically decreases, leading to dry skin and therefore requiring richer, thicker creams to relieve this dryness.
Probably they won’t cause any harm (beyond a few outbreaks due to their weight and concentration and the occlusion that they could cause in the pores) but being honest, they could be a useless expense because you would not be taking advantage of its benefits since your skin doesn't need them.
But be careful, there is also premature aging, where age is not a factor, but genetics and habits are. In this case, the best option is to consult a specialist who will recommend the products that are best for your skin.
So, what do I do if I’m 20 and I’m worried about aging? Prevention is the best thing you can do.
Instead of fighting wrinkles and expression lines that do not exist, it's better to focus on two main principles: sunscreen protection and keeping hydrated skin. A generous SPF, a good moisturizer, and adding antioxidants or retinol as a preventive measure is more than enough for a twentysomething.
